Exam Stress and Anxiety

What is exam stress?

Lots of us know what it's like to feel stressed, but it's not easy to describe what stress is.

There's no single definition of stress, and it might feel different for you than it does for someone else. How we experience stress can feel different at different times. It can also depend on what's causing it.

Feeling stressed, worried, or under pressure around exams can be difficult to manage. But there are things that can help – it's about finding what's right for you.

Fear of Flying

Aerophobia is an extreme fear of flying.

People with aerophobia might feel intense anxiety before or during a flight. This condition can interfere with your ability to travel for work or pleasure.

Food Addiction

Research has shown that addiction has a genetic component, but other factors may cause food addiction.
  • Emotions and stress. People who become addicted to food may eat to enhance positive emotions and to reduce negative emotions....
  • Brain chemistry....
  • Genetics....
  • Trauma.

Functional neurological disorder (FND)

Functional neurological disorder (FND) is a medical condition in which there is a problem with the functioning of the nervous system and how the brain and body sends and/or receives signals, rather than a structural disease process such as multiple sclerosis or stroke.

Gambling Addiction

Gambling addiction - also known as pathological gambling, compulsive gambling or gambling disorder—is an impulse-control disorder. If you're a compulsive gambler, you can't control the impulse to gamble, even when it has negative consequences for you or your loved ones. You'll gamble whether you're up or down, broke or flush, and you'll keep gambling regardless of the consequences—even when you know that the odds are against you or you can't afford to lose.

Of course, you can also have a gambling problem without being totally out of control. Problem gambling is any gambling behavior that disrupts your life. If you're preoccupied with gambling, spending more and more time and money on it, chasing losses, or gambling despite serious consequences in your life, you have a gambling problem.

A gambling addiction or problem is often associated with other behavior or mood disorders. Many problem gamblers also suffer with substance abuse issues, unmanaged ADHD, stress, depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorder. To overcome your gambling problems, you'll also need to address these and any other underlying causes as well.

Does gastric band hypnosis work?

The Hypno-Band™ method has a success rate of 70-80% and many clients find this approach completely life changing as it allows them to gain control over their eating and many clients begin to lose weight after the initial session.

You don't need a drug like Wegovy to achieve weightloss.

Health Anxiety

You may have health anxiety if you: constantly worry about your health. frequently check your body for signs of illness, such as lumps, tingling or pain. are always asking people for reassurance that you're not ill. Worry that a doctor or medical tests may have missed something.

Heartbreak

A broken heart (also known as heartbreak or heartache) is a metaphor for the intense emotional stress or pain one feels at experiencing great loss or deep longing. The concept is cross-cultural, often cited with reference to unreciprocated or lost love.

Failed romantic love can be extremely painful; people with a broken heart may succumb to depression, anxiety and, in more extreme cases, post-traumatic stress disorder.

Hoarding

Hoarding is having so many things that you cannot manage the clutter where you live, and find it difficult or impossible to throw things away. You might hoard because you feel a strong need to keep things. But your connection to these things can cause you distress.

Hypnobirthing

Hypnobirthing can help you manage stress hormones, such as adrenalin, and reduce anxiety, which should lead to a calmer birth. During labour, your body produces a chemical called oxytocin, which helps progress your labour. Stress hormones affect the production of oxytocin, and make your labour longer.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is a state of heightened suggestibility in which a person is more open to suggestion. It is often used in therapy to help people change their behavior or overcome negative thoughts and emotions.

Hypnotherapy is a type of mind-body medicine that uses hypnosis to help people address a whole variety of issues, including some common ones:

  • Anxiety and stress
  • Pain management
  • Weight loss
  • Smoking cessation
  • Habit control
  • Insomnia
  • Performance anxiety
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Depression
  • Eating disorders

Hypnotherapy Myths !!!

  1. Hypnosis is mind control: Hypnosis is not mind control. It is a state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility. The person being hypnotized is always in control and can choose to accept or reject suggestions.

  2. Hypnosis can make you do things against your will: Hypnosis cannot make you do anything against your will or moral code. You are always aware of your actions and can refuse to comply with any suggestion.

  3. Hypnosis is only effective on weak-minded individuals: Hypnosis can be effective on individuals with a wide range of personalities and cognitive abilities. It is not a sign of weakness or gullibility.

  4. Hypnosis is the same as sleep: Hypnosis is not sleep. Although it can induce a deeply relaxed state, you remain awake and aware throughout the process.

  5. Hypnosis is a magical or supernatural phenomenon: Hypnosis is a natural state of mind that has been studied and used for therapeutic purposes for centuries. It does not involve any supernatural or magical powers.

There are several differences between a hypnotist and a certified clinical hypnotherapist. A hypnotist utilizes short-term hypnosis for entertainment purposes and intentionally attempting to humiliate someone to obtain laughs. Hypnotist also may or may not have training in hypnosis; some hypnotists are self-proclaimed, have no training other than self-taught, and trial and error efforts.

A certified clinical hypnotherapist is the complete opposite.  A certified clinical hypnotherapist utilizes hypnosis for long-term changes towards personal change and development. Clinical Hypnotherapist have received training and engaged in yearly continued education to provide the best ecology possible for client’s personal development and desired outcomes.

Why Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is considered a holistic approach to healing because it aims to address the root causes of problems by treating the whole person, including their physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects.

Hypnotherapy is based on the idea that the mind and body are interconnected, and that the mind has the power to influence physical health and wellbeing. Through hypnosis, I can help clients access their subconscious mind and create positive changes in their thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors.

Holistic therapies like hypnotherapy are often used in conjunction with traditional medical treatments to provide a more comprehensive approach to healing. By addressing the underlying causes of issues and promoting overall wellness, hypnotherapy can help people achieve a greater sense of balance and wholeness in their lives.

Hypnotherapy is a type of therapy that uses hypnosis as a tool to help individuals achieve a state of relaxation and heightened suggestibility. During a hypnotherapy session, the therapist guides the client into a trance-like state, where the client is deeply relaxed and open to suggestions.

In this state, the client is able to access their subconscious mind and explore thoughts, feelings, and memories that may be causing distress or hindering their progress. The therapist may use different techniques, such as visualization or positive affirmations, to help the client address and overcome their issues.

Insomnia

Insomnia is difficulty getting to sleep or staying asleep for long enough to feel refreshed the next morning. It's a common problem thought to regularly affect around one in every three people in the UK, and is particularly common in elderly people. If you have insomnia, you may: find it difficult to fall asleep.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Doctors aren't sure what causes IBS. Experts think that a combination of problems may lead to IBS. Different factors may cause IBS in different people. Functional gastrointestinal (GI) disorders such as IBS are problems with brain-gut interaction - how your brain and gut work together.

Jealousy

Jealousy is a complex emotion that encompasses feelings ranging from suspicion to rage to fear to humiliation. It strikes people of all ages, genders, and sexual orientations, and is most typically aroused when a person perceives a threat to a valued relationship from a third party. The threat may be real or imagined.

Loss of Libido

Loss of libido (sex drive) is a common problem affecting up to 1 in 5 men – and even more women – at some point in their life.

It's often linked to professional and personal stress, or important life-changing events such as pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding.

However, an unexpected loss of libido – especially when it lasts for a long time or keeps returning – can also indicate an underlying personal, medical or lifestyle problem, which can be upsetting to both partners in a relationship.

Low Self-Confidence

Self-Confidence is about trusting your own abilities and judgements and behaving accordingly.  Someone can have high Self-Esteem but a Low-Confidence to perform a certain task, and vice versa. However, it is common for one to influence the other.

Experiences of low Self-Esteem and/or low Self-Confidence are very common amongst young people, with 75% of all young people acknowledging the experience of not feeling confident.  If you struggle with your Self-Esteem you may not place a lot of value on yourself, magnifying the mistakes you make, and minimising your personal achievements.  This can impact on your ability to recognise and acknowledge what you are good at, or the things you like about yourself which can then influence behaviours that may not be helpful.  You may hold some negative beliefs about yourself such as “I am worthless” or “I am not good enough”.

Overtime these negative self -beliefs can have a big impact on our mental health and emotional wellbeing so it is important to try to break this cycle and challenge our beliefs.

Low Self-Esteem

Low self-esteem means not holding yourself in high regard.

If you have low self-esteem, you might feel shy or anxious around other people, think of yourself as incapable or criticize yourself harshly.

Some people with low self-esteem know that they judge themselves too harshly, whereas others hold onto their negative beliefs so strongly that they can feel like facts.

Low self-esteem affects many people, and may make you more vulnerable to struggling with other mental health problems. Fortunately, there are helpful psychological approaches for improving your self-esteem.

Mysophobia

Mysophobia refers to the intense and irrational fear of germs, dirt, or contamination. It is a type of specific phobia, which is a fear that is pervasive and interferes with daily functioning. An individual with mysophobia has an obsessive worry about contracting an illness from various sources, including bodily fluids and bacteria.

It is one of the most prevalent types of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), a psychiatric diagnosis characterized by excessive thoughts (obsessions) that lead to repetitive behaviors (compulsions).

Repetitive behaviors associated with mysophobia may include excessive hand washing or bathing. Individuals with mysophobia may also feel an intense urge to avoid situations where they feel they can become contaminated, or they may go to extreme efforts to remove sources of contamination.
