4. What issues and conditions can hypnotherapy help with? Our integrated and solution focused therapy approach is designed to help you quickly and effectively overcome a wide range of issues. These are the most frequent issues I regularly help clients with:

Low confidence and self-esteem

5. Do you offer a free consultation? Yes, we offer a FREE 1-hour assessment consultation with no obligation. This allows us to understand the root cause of your issues, explain how our client-centered approach works, and ensure you feel comfortable before booking a full session.
6. Do you work with children? Yes, we can help children from the age of 8 upwards who are struggling with anxiety, habits, or other issues. I am fully DBS-checked. Please note that a parent or guardian must always be present during sessions with minors.

9. Are your therapies safe? Yes, hypnotherapy is a non-invasive, drug-free therapy that is completely safe. It can be used effectively on its own or alongside traditional medical treatments. You will always be in control during your sessions; we simply guide your subconscious to help you make the positive, long-lasting changes you desire.
10. Do you provide any self-help resources? Yes, I believe in empowering my clients. I produce Music Therapy Podcasts and Sleep Therapies designed to help you relax and sleep. You can listen to my guided meditations on Apple Podcasts, or tune into our recommended internet radio station that plays deep relaxation audio from 10 PM to 6 AM every day.
11. Will I lose control or be asleep during hypnotherapy? Not at all. This is one of the most common misconceptions about clinical hypnotherapy. You will not be asleep, and you will never lose control or be made to do anything against your will. Instead, you will enter a deeply relaxed, focused state—similar to daydreaming or getting lost in a good book. You remain fully aware of your surroundings in our Gillingham clinic and can open your eyes or stop the session at any time.
12. How many hypnotherapy sessions will I need to see results? Because we use a tailored, client-centered approach, generally it will be one, but the number of sessions varies depending on the individual and the complexity of the issue. Some highly specific goals, such as smoking or vaping cessation, can often see dramatic results in just one or two sessions. Deeper-rooted issues like trauma, chronic anxiety, or long-term weight management may require a longer collaborative approach. We will discuss a realistic timeline during your free 1-hour assessment consultation.
13. Why do you combine Hypnotherapy with CBT and NLP? At Positive Need, I don't just rely on one method. I combine Clinical Hypnotherapy with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) to tackle your issues from every angle.
-
CBT helps you identify and change negative conscious thought patterns.
-
NLP helps rewire the way your brain processes language and behavior.
-
Hypnotherapy allows us to embed these positive changes directly into your subconscious. This integrated approach ensures faster, more effective, and longer-lasting results.
14. What is Past Life Regression and what is it used for? Past Life Regression is a specialized hypnotherapy technique that gently guides you to access memories and experiences that appear to be from previous lifetimes. Many clients in Dorset and beyond use this therapy out of personal curiosity, but it can also be a profound tool for healing. It is often used to uncover the root causes of unexplained phobias, recurring relationship patterns, or physical pains that traditional therapies haven't been able to resolve.
15. Is hypnotherapy a guaranteed "magic cure" for weight loss or quitting smoking? While hypnotherapy is an incredibly powerful tool for breaking bad habits, it is not magic, although for some, it can feel like that but It cannot force you to do something you don't actually want to do. For therapies like weight loss or habit control to be highly effective, you must have a genuine, conscious desire—a positive need—to make a change. When you bring the motivation, hypnotherapy removes the subconscious friction, eliminates cravings, and empowers you to achieve your goals with ease.
