The 1st experience
How daunting to complete your hypnotherapy training at last and then go through the process of how you are going to advertise and let people know you have this wonderful therapy available to help people.
My personal journey and experience has led me to this point and no matter how confident you are, no matter what you have experienced in life, nothing will ever prepare you for your very first real life experience in hypnotherapy. My first client contacted me via the website (thanks Google) and even though I was very keen to get going with Hypnotherapy, the client was asking for
CBT (which i am qualified to do)
So, my enthusiasm for Hypnotherapy and getting started with it, was a request for CBT. It was great to receive my first email through the website, really excited about that, the website and everything that is entailed in getting that up and running, was actually now proven to be working. A little victory but the bigger victory was that someone had found me and wanted therapy.
So the client turned up on the agreed date and time, and the offer of a free 1 hour consultation is really important for not just the client, but for me also to determine how I can help. This resulted in agreeing that Hypnotherapy would be more profound in the clients treatment than CBT.
The client was very receptive to treatment as they were really positive that this would work for them, whereas before with other treatments it hadn't been successful.
The resulting consultation was informative for me that enabled me to tailor exactly what was required, and of course this benefitted the client when we completed the hypnotherapy a few days later. Its important to note here that this free 1 hour consultation is highly important to enable the client to relax and allow them to speak freely and in a safe environment to enable them to also ask questions if they have any. This may be useful information for newly qualified hypnotherapists that are thinking of starting up their own practice, to consider something similar.
